Before the Goldrush

5 key learning points from Rio

It is hard to get your head around the achievements of Team GB these last couple of weeks.  Those of us who are old enough may remember getting up early in the morning to watch David Hemery win Britain’s solitary gold on the track in Mexico, and the stir that created.  20 years ago in Atlanta (more…)

Liverpool Loves: “Pitch Perfect”

MD John Drysdale opened the August 2016 Liverpool Loves Business festival at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool with “Pitch Perfect” – strategies and tools for securing work –  to a packed audience of aspirational business owners, start-ups and established business leaders.

The talk was extremely well received as John laid out the main themes; “Why” you do what you do and how to “Be” in selling your ideas and your brand.

Copies of the slides for Pitch Perfect can be found below.

No Guru is proud to support the Liverpool Loves project and wish them every success for next year.

The Problem with Potential

Who has “High Potential” in your organisation?

I took part in an interesting discussion yesterday which turned to reflections on school days.  It seemed for quite a few of us, the school system failed to recognise our talents, traits and characteristics and paid little heed to our styles of learning or rate of development.

Most worrying of all is the dearth of Leadership at the very top of our political system.

So what can be learned about leadership and leading change from Brexit? (more…)

Learning in the Great Outdoors

We held a beautiful event in Malhalmdale in North Yorkshire recently with our partners at Carnegie Great Outdoors  delivering a “taster” day at the welcome surroundings of Newfield Hall.  The session attracted a number of training and HR professionals to introduce them to experiential learning with an outdoor focus and how to facilitate it.

Outdoor activity can be a highly effective way of developing people (more…)
