What they said
The Trust took the decision to place ‘the development of a coaching culture’ as a strategic objective predominantly in response to the really positive feedback received from delegates who had been offered 1-1 coaching sessions as part of the inaugural Level 3 Leadership Programme in 2004. This resulted in the design of the Level 5 Coaching Programme which was first delivered in 2005. The Programme is now in its third year and to date there are 22 qualified coaches within LPFT (Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust – new title!), with a further 7 due to qualify in December 2007.
1-1 coaching is offered as part of all ILM Programmes within the Trust. The internal coaches, for the first time, are coaching all 45 delegates of this year’s L3 Leadership Programme. As more coaches qualify, it is hoped they will continue to coach delegates from other ILM Programmes – i.e. L5 Leadership and L5 Coaching. Coaching outside of the ILM Programmes has also been provided to more than 40 staff.
The L7 Executive Coaching & Mentoring Programme is being piloted this year with a view to getting senior Trust staff on board in order to further promote the ‘coaching culture’. Also with a view to the Trust becoming a ‘hub’ of West Yorks for management development.
A student from Manchester Business School is currently doing some research into the benefits of coaching within LPFT – this to be submitted by end of September 2007.
